My older sister was groomed in exactly this way. She chose not to have children, and was the unquestioned matriarch of our sibling group. And she died early (52), which I partly attribute to the stress of being that “second mother.” Take care of you. You DO deserve a life and identity apart from this role. Thanks for writing this.
