I think there is a new emergency number for mental health issues. I hope so, because asking the clerks to handle these situations is too much. And I think you’re right, if this was a black or brown person they would not have tolerated it. As a nurse I’ve seen this play out more than once — usually someone who has a low tolerance for frustration, and is easily overwhelmed. Dementia patients definitely.
