I hope you are well-recovered now. You are so right about this. When we are stripped down to our basic humanity, we all want the same things. If we are ill, it’s care and comfort. Suffering should bond us, and I’m not sure why anyone would use the suffering of others (especially deliberately CAUSING the suffering, as in “mass deportation” or “carpet bomb” and other such sweeping comments) to recruit followers and voters. A little humility goes a long way, as does a little compassion.
